Aucasaurus

“I can not believe this is the first time we include the Aucasaurus in our toy lineup. We need more theropods for our toy lines.”
Simon Masrani

Aucasaurus was a theropod dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous period, about 85 to 70 million years ago. Discovered in the Auca Mahuevo fossil site in Argentina (hence it was named like that) the Aucasaurus belonged to the family Abelisauridae, closely related to Carnotaurus and other short-armed theropods.

Aucasaurus is sometimes considered a close relative or even a precursor to Carnotaurus, but it lacked the latter’s distinctive horns.

Estimated at 5–6 meters (16–20 feet) in length and weighing around 1–1.5 tons. It is by far the largest theropod found on the territory of Argentine.
