“Our Scientists are magicians you know. They recreated this dinosaur by simply analysing a fossilised footprint. Don’t ask how, don’t ask why.”
— Simon Masrani
Abelisaurus was a theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period somewhere about 80 to 85 million years ago. It was a carnivorous dinosaur belonging to the Abelisauridae family which were a group of theropods known for their short, deep skulls and reduced forelimbs.
It is known from the discovery of a single skull in Patagonia, Argentina. Like other members of the same family, it likely funny looking, tiny and most of all useless arms, probably smaller than those of Tyrannosaurus rex./p>
In size it is estimated to be around 7–9 meters (23–30 feet) long, though the exact size is uncertain due to limited fossil evidence. However, even incomplete, its fossils hint at a powerful predator that was around the top of the food chain in South America.
