Iani is a recently discovered species of herbivorous dinosaur that lived approximately 99 million years ago during so called mid-Cretaceous period. It roamed the lands that are nowadays Utah, USA.
The partial skeleton fossil was unearthed in 2014 due to its peculiar nature was named “Iani” after the Roman god of transitions Ianus (or Janus).
This dinosaur was small, bipedal herbivore, with size of approximately 3 meters (10 feet) in length and weighing somewhere around 45 kilograms (100 pounds). According to the fossil, it had a powerful jaw with lots of teeth adapted for chewing through tough plant material which was abundant during the mid-Cretaceous period.
