Gigantic Trackers Figure Guide
Stegosaurus Gigantic Trackers
Stegosaurus launched the Gigantic Trackers assortment of Jurassic World Dino Trackers in late 2022 alongside Sinotyrannus, and it is one of the most recognisable figures in the whole line. This big plant-eater comes in a pale, battle-scarred paint job with olive green plates, a black spiked tail and a strap-on tracker saddle inspired by Jurassic World Dominion. It has two attack moves: a head butt and a side-to-side swing of the head and tail. Here is what the figure looks like, what it does, and how to unlock it in the Jurassic World Play App.

A Tail Weapon Named by a Cartoon
The spiked end of a Stegosaurus tail has a proper scientific nickname, and it comes from a joke.
The joke has real science behind it. Stegosaurus stenops had four spikes, each roughly 60 to 90 cm long, and they pointed out to the sides rather than straight up. An Allosaurus tail bone has even been found with a healed puncture that fits a Stegosaurus spike, so the thagomizer was a weapon that really worked.
What Is Gigantic Trackers?
Gigantic Trackers was the largest regular assortment in Mattel’s Dino Trackers line. Each figure is roughly 35 cm long, has two attack motions and comes with removable tracking gear, a nod to the tracking devices seen in Jurassic World Dominion. Wave 1 paired Stegosaurus with Sinotyrannus, and wave 2 added Elasmosaurus and Bistahieversor.
The Gigantic Trackers name carried on in Epic Evolution and Chaos Theory, and Primal Ambush keeps the big figure slot alive with its Gigantic Thrashers.
Paint and Colours
Most of the body, legs and tail
Stripe along the spine and plate bases
Tops of the back plates
Scar-like patches on the flanks and neck
Tail spikes and rear plates
This is not the usual green or orange Stegosaurus. The body is a pale grey white with a charcoal stripe running down the spine, and the tall back plates fade from dark bases to olive green tips. Brick red patches on the flanks and neck look like old wounds or mud, giving it a weathered, survivor look. The tail plates and spikes are black, which makes the thagomizer stand out.
Sculpt and Detail
Head and plates
The head is small and low, with a narrow beak-like snout, just as on the real animal. Two rows of big, leaf-shaped plates run along the back, staggered rather than paired, which matches how scientists now reconstruct Stegosaurus. The plates are thick and sturdy, so they survive rough play well.
Body, legs and saddle
The body is broad and heavy, with fine wrinkled skin texture, a high arched back and short front legs, giving it the classic Stegosaurus profile. The removable tracking gear is a black saddle that sits over the middle of the back between the plates, with a tracker device on the side.

Action Features and Articulation
✓ Moving head✓ Legs forward and back★ Head butt attack★ Press the back: tail swing✓ Removable tracker saddle✗ No sound or lights
Mattel built two separate attacks into this figure. One drives a head butt, with the small head jabbing forward. The other, triggered by pressing down on the back, swings the head and spiked tail from side to side for a sweeping thagomizer strike. Both work with or without the tracker saddle fitted, and neither needs batteries. Fittingly for a plant-eater, its best move is defence.
Size and Specs
Product code HLP24, sold in the HLP23 Gigantic Trackers case. It came out in late 2022 for ages 4 and up. Its tall plates make it one of the chunkiest figures in the assortment, and it makes a natural rival for the Sinotyrannus from the same wave.
Is It Worth Buying?
This Stegosaurus is a strong pick for kids who want a big plant-eater that can fight back. The head butt and tail swing are both easy to trigger, the plates are tough, and the pale, scarred paint gives it a look of its own among the many green Stegosaurus toys. Pair it with Sinotyrannus for an instant predator and prey set.
It came out in 2022 and is mostly found second hand now. Check that the tracker saddle is included when buying used.

About Stegosaurus
Stegosaurus was named by Othniel Charles Marsh in 1877, during the Bone Wars, from fossils found in Colorado. It lived in the Late Jurassic, roughly 155 to 150 million years ago, in the floodplains recorded by the Morrison Formation of the western United States, alongside Allosaurus, Diplodocus and Brachiosaurus.
The best known species, Stegosaurus stenops, reached about 9 m long and several tonnes. Its two rows of plates were embedded in the skin rather than attached to the skeleton, and were probably used for display. Its small head held a small brain, but the old idea of a second brain in its hips has long been dropped.
It fed on low plants, and its four-spiked tail, the thagomizer, was its main defence against big predators.
