Regaliceratops

“She was my favorite when I was a kid. Now I see her, she’s the most beautiful thing I ever saw.”
Alan Grant

Regaliceratops is a genus of chasmosaurine ceratopsid dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 68 to 66 million years ago. Its fossils were discovered rather recently in the Canadian province of Alberta in 2005 and later described in 2015.

Regaliceratops was a herbivorous dinosaur that measured around 5 meters (16 feet) in length and weighed about 1.5 to 2 tons. It had a large frill, or shield, at the back of its skull that was adorned with numerous spikes and other protrusions, some of which were shaped like crowns, giving the dinosaur its name, which means “royal horned face”.

The skull of Regaliceratops is one of the most ornate and elaborate of any known ceratopsid dinosaur, with many unique features that set it apart from other related species. These features include large, forward-curving brow horns, a prominent nasal horn, and a complex pattern of spikes and bumps on its frill.
