About the Toy

1. Sculpt and painting

Paint Scheme: Gold, Blue and Black

The Re-Imagined Indoraptor color scheme is the first major visual upgrade this figure delivers. The standard Indoraptor color scheme is a black body with a single gold streak. This version retains that foundation but adds layers of complexity that make it feel genuinely fresh.

The most notable detail is the dual-tone gold highlighting. Indoraptor just loves the bling.

Blue color accents appear across the body, adding another layer of contrast against the black base. The red eye marking around the orbit is present and accurate to the film design. There is also a subtle glitter element to the arms, giving them a slightly metallic sheen in direct light.

Head and Face

The head sculpt carries the detailing quality you would expect from a premium Mattel release. The lower jaw articulates smoothly, revealing well-sculpted teeth that show the sickly, ragged quality accurate to the film’s design.

The skin texture on the neck is impressive, with fine detail visible across the entire surface. The red mark around the eye orbit is present and precise. The overall impression from the head alone is of a figure that has been modeled with genuine care for the source material.

Body and Quills

Moving down the neck and body, the shiny paint treatment gives the figure a vibe that is slightly unusual but works very well in person. The gold highlights are not flat paint; they catch light differently at different angles, giving the figure a lively quality on the shelf.

The quills along the back of the neck and head are softer than any previous Indoraptor figure and sit more naturally. I have had previously punctured my toes on the indoraptor quils while walking in my son’s room at night, and I do not recommend it.

There is a skin flap detail on the arm area, rendered in the same soft rubbery material as the body, that adds an organic quality missing from hard plastic figures.

Arms: The Most Notable Improvement

The arm articulation on this figure is one of its most impressive qualities. On previous mainline Indoraptors, the joint connector was extremely visible as a seam, and the movement was stiff and limited.

On this version, the joint is effectively hidden, and the arms move freely in multiple directions with a smoothness that feels genuinely new for Mattel dinosaur articulation at this scale. Moving them up and down, rotating them, positioning them freely, all of it works without resistance or obvious mechanical compromise.

Legs, Tail and Feet

The legs feel slightly firmer than the body, with less of the rubbery quality, but they move sideways and the ankle rotates cleanly.

The tail is the star of the lower body: wire construction means it can be bent to any angle and holds the pose completely, whether sweeping to the side in an aggressive display or coiling slightly for a crouching stance. The tail does sit slightly short for the species, but it is not a significant visual issue at this size.

Overall skin texture and scale detail throughout the lower body is crisp and well executed.

2. Action Feature & Articulation

The articulation is phenomenal, and very posable. We have articulated jaw, a wire tail, arms that work in any direction and without any visible joints, and we do have sounds.

The button on the upper body triggers multiple roar sound effects. The sounds vary across activations and are loud and varied in tone. There are no light effects alongside the sounds, but the audio quality alone is impressive and adds significant play and display value.

  • Jaw (articulated)
  • Wire tail (full poseability)
  • Arms (multi-directional, seamless joints)
  • Legs (sideways movement)
  • Ankle swivel
  • Sound button (upper body)

Verdict Should I buy it?

Without any hesitation.

The Survival Indoraptor Real Feel Reimagined is the definitive mainline Indoraptor Mattel has produced. The dual-tone gold, the blue accents, the seamless arm articulation, the Real Feel body, the wire tail, and the sound effects come together as a genuinely cohesive package that improves on every previous version in almost every way. The tail is slightly short but that is the only real criticism. If you collect Indoraptor figures, this one belongs at the front of the shelf.

3. About the Indoraptor

"A creature of the future, made from pieces of the past! Ladies and gentlemen, please be warned. This is the perfect blend of the two most dangerous creatures that ever walked the Earth. We call it... the Indoraptor!"
- Gunnar Eversoll, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

The Indoraptor was a hybrid dinosaur created by Dr. Henry Wu in the basement laboratory of Lockwood Manor. Engineered using the recovered genome of the Indominus rex combined with additional Velociraptor DNA, it was designed as a military weapon capable of responding to laser targeting and audio commands. The prototype, however, lacked the social conditioning Wu had intended — it was a weapon without a handler, driven entirely by instinct and conditioning, and deeply aggressive. It killed not because it was hungry but because it had been bred and abused to do so.

Growing to approximately 7 metres in length and 2 metres in height, the Indoraptor possessed echolocation for tracking prey in darkness, razor-sharp sickle claws inherited from its Velociraptor lineage, and the cunning intelligence of the Indominus. Its appearance — primarily black with a gold streak from neck to tail, red markings around the eyes, and quills along the neck — made it immediately iconic within the franchise. The Survival Re-Imagined version takes that recognizable design and elevates it with dual-tone gold, blue accents, and a premium Real Feel build that does justice to the creature’s status as one of the most memorable hybrids in the Jurassic World series.

What is different about the Survival Indoraptor compared to previous versions?

The Survival Real Feel Reimagined Indoraptor features Real Feel rubber body construction, a wire poseable tail, significantly improved arm articulation with hidden joints, dual-tone gold highlighting, blue color accents, softer quills, and multiple sound effects. The arm articulation in particular is dramatically smoother than any previous mainline release.

Does the Survival Indoraptor have sounds?

Yes. The Indoraptor Real Feel Reimagined includes multiple roar sound effects triggered by a button on the upper body. The sounds vary across activations and are loud and clearly rendered.

What is the Jurassic World Survival toy line?

Jurassic World Survival is Mattel’s 2026 toy line tied to the upcoming Jurassic World Survival PS5 video game. It continues the Legacy Collection Re-Imagined format with Kenner-era inspired colorways and Real Feel construction on select figures, with the Indoraptor being one of the headline releases.

Is the wire tail on the Survival Indoraptor poseable?

Yes. The wire construction inside the tail allows it to be bent into any position and it holds that pose without springing back. This is one of the key advantages over previous hard plastic Indoraptor releases where the tail was static.
