Gallimimus Jurassic World Rebirth Danger Pack Review

Toy Line: Danger Pack

Year: 2025

Mattel's Gallimimus returns for the Rebirth line in the Danger Pack format, marking the sixth distinct release of this dinosaur across the modern Jurassic World toy range. This time, it arrives with a noticeably revised sculpt, an articulated jaw, and a darker earth-tone colorway that sets it apart from the paler, bluer Epic Evolution version. Whether it earns a spot in your collection or is just another repeat depends heavily on how the detail holds up at this price point.

How Does It Compare to Previous Versions?

If you already own the Epic Evolution Gallimimus, here’s the honest answer: the Rebirth version is the better figure, but not by a dramatic margin. The body sculpt has been refined, the jaw now opens and closes, and the leg detail is noticeably crisper. The color scheme is the biggest visual change, warmer browns and greens replace the cooler gray-blue of the Epic Evolution release.

Head-to-Head: Epic Evolution Galliminus vs Rebirth Galliminus

Epic Evolution Galliminus (2023)

  • Fixed jaw, no articulation
  • Lighter gray-blue colorway
  • Less defined leg musculature

  • Standard arm swivel only

Rebirth Galliminus (2025)

  • Articulated jaw ✓
  • Warmer earth-tone colorway
  • Stronger leg & calf detail
  • Paint still fades at hip
  • Neck articulates upward ✓
  • Arm swivel + forward/back ✓

About the toy

1. Sculpt

The overall figure looks almost like every other Gallimimus from the past, but this time there is just a bit more details. Let’s take the head, for example. The head sculpt is very considerate of the small size, skin texture is present though, and not very in your face, with nostrils on the tip of the snout and yellow eyes with black pupils.

It has an articulated jaw, which is always a bonus, not only for the Hammond collection units. You can open it up to see the small teeth and tongue in there.

The body is also very well sculpted. The fron limbs are exceptional and really detailed when you look at them you can kind of see the muscles under the skin.

The legs however are maybe the most prominent part of the fugure as they have the most details. The skin texture there is really really good, with the powerful muscles you can clearly see telling away the speed this dinosaur could reach. And there are the feet. The most disproportional part in any Mattel dinosaur figure. They are extremely out of proportion to the rest of the body, but this is obviously the only way the figure can be posed so there is that.

The tail has a nice natural curve to it, though like most Mattel figures the patterning fades out as you move toward the tip.

2. Articulation

The articulation is standard for the Danger Pack line, with the jaw being the highlight. Here is a list of the moving parts:

  • Articulated jaw
  • Articulated neck — good range, can look well upward
  • Arm swivel (forward and back)
  • Leg movement (forward and back)
  • Swivel tail

Verdict Should I buy it?

The Rebirth Gallimimus is a quiet but genuine improvement on what came before. The articulated jaw and crisper leg detail push it ahead of the Epic Evolution version in almost every category. It won’t be the showpiece of your shelf, but it’s a solid Danger Pack entry and the best Gallimimus Mattel has produced to date. If you already own the Epic Evolution version, the improved detail and new colorway make it worth picking up. First-time buyers should go straight to this one.

About the Gallimimums

Gallimimus is an extinct genus of ornithomimid theropod dinosaur that lived in Mongolia during the Late Cretaceous period around 70 million years ago. It was a speedy theropod, the largest of its type. They were called chicken mimics because they probably moved like modern flightless birds. Unlike other theropods, Gallimimus had no teeth. In fact, it had a very small head. This was probably one of the fastest dinosaurs, with speed like an ostrich, it could probably run up to 30 miles per hour.

With its small, toothless head, it is believed that Gallimimus probably had a diet of insects, small animals, eggs, and maybe even some plants. They had a much longer neck than any other theropod dinosaur.

Is the Rebirth Gallimimus better than the Epic Evolution version?

Yes, in most respects. The Rebirth version adds an articulated jaw, improved leg detail, and a new colorway. Paint coverage still not good enough on both figures, but the Rebirth figure is the stronger overall toy.

What articulation does the Rebirth Gallimimus Danger Pack have?

The figure has five points of articulation: an articulated jaw, a neck with good upward range, arm swivel (forward and back), leg movement (forward and back), and a swivel tail.
