Real Feel Allosaurus Legacy Collection Reimagined First look at the Reimagined Allosaurus — teal blue, orange spines and soft Real Feel skin
Allosaurus returns in the Jurassic World Legacy Collection Reimagined, a new mainline-scale series announced by Mattel alongside Primal Ambush. This one is a Real Feel figure with a sound feature. It is not out yet, so this is a preview built from the official packaging: what it looks like, what it does, and the story of the real Jurassic predator behind it. The full hands-on review, DNA scan code and photo gallery will be added here once it is released.

▲ First Look
The Legacy Collection is back, and this time with a twist. The packaging shows a teal-blue Allosaurus with a row of orange spines from its head to its tail, white patches down its neck and back, and mustard-yellow jaws and feet, sold under a “Reimagined” badge with a “Real Feel” callout. The box art behind it is an erupting volcano and a burning forest, a clear nod to the Allosaurus that fled Isla Nublar in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. As the badge suggests, the colours are a fresh take rather than a copy of the film animal. Everything below comes from the boxed figure as shown on the official packaging, so treat it as provisional until we have it in hand.
🔬 Why This Species Is Worth Knowing
Allosaurus is one of the best-understood big predators of all time. A single quarry in Utah has produced the bones of more than forty individuals, from youngsters to adults, and a nearly complete skeleton nicknamed “Big Al” preserves at least nineteen injuries and infections that the animal lived with. Together they give an unusually detailed picture of how a large meat-eating dinosaur grew, hunted and got hurt. It was the top predator of the Late Jurassic, living alongside Stegosaurus, Diplodocus and Brachiosaurus.
Paint Scheme — From the Packaging
Primary bodyOrange
Spines & brow crestsWhite
Neck & back patchesBrown
Patch outlinesMustard yellow
Lower jaw & feet
The body is a deep teal blue from the snout to the tip of the tail. Running along the top of the neck and back is a series of irregular white patches, each edged in brown, a little like islands on a map. The spines along the back and the crests over the eyes are a bright orange, and the lower jaw, throat, shins and feet are a mustard yellow that fades into the blue on the legs. The teeth are white. It is a bold, high-contrast scheme and very different from the brown and red Allosaurus seen on screen.
The packaging itself is worth a mention: a black base with the red Legacy Collection logo, a yellow and black striped “Reimagined” badge, and film-inspired artwork behind the figure.
Sculpt & Detail — First Impressions
Head and Jaws
The head is deep and narrow with the pair of crests in front of the eyes that Allosaurus is known for, here enlarged and joined into a jagged orange crown. The jaws are shown wide open in the box, lined with long white teeth, and the yellow lower jaw makes the gape stand out.
Spines, Neck and Back
A continuous row of short, sharp spines runs from the back of the head all the way down the neck, back and tail. They are tallest over the shoulders, which is also where the packaging tells you to press. The body looks to have a scaly, finely wrinkled surface, though how the soft Real Feel skin affects the detail is something we can only judge in hand.
Arms, Legs and Tail
The arms are short but strong, with three clawed fingers on each hand. The legs are long, with yellow lower sections and large three-toed feet, and the tail is long and tapers to a point, carrying the orange spines right to the end. We will cover the feet, claws and underside properly in the full review.
Features & Articulation
✓ Real Feel skin✓ Press-activated sound? Jaw — to be confirmed? Arms and legs — to be confirmed? Tail — to be confirmed
The box shows a speaker icon with an arrow pointing down at the figure’s back, and an inset picture of a hand pressing on the spines over the shoulders, so the sound is triggered from there. There is no light icon. What we cannot tell from a boxed figure is how it moves, or how the soft skin affects the joints, so the articulation list stays open until release. We will test every joint and add the results here.
Size & Specs
Three Legacy Collection Reimagined items have been shown so far: this Real Feel Allosaurus, the Real Feel Tour Takeover Tyrannosaurus rex, and the Utahraptor Attack Pack. The Allosaurus comes in a wide window box and fills most of it. Mattel has not published measurements, so we will add the length and height as soon as we can put a ruler to it.
Early Verdict — One to Watch?
On looks alone, yes. Allosaurus is a fan favourite, and the teal, orange and yellow scheme is striking enough to justify a place on the shelf even if you already own several. Collectors who buy the Legacy Collection for screen accuracy should note that this is, by design, not the film animal. Whether it is worth buying depends on things we cannot judge from a box: how the Real Feel skin holds up, how well it poses, paint quality on the production figure, and how good the sound is. This is not a review yet, and we will give a proper verdict once we have the figure.

About the Allosaurus
Allosaurus was a large meat-eating theropod dinosaur from the Late Jurassic, living roughly 155 to 145 million years ago. Most of its fossils come from the Morrison Formation of the western United States, with further finds in Portugal. It was named in 1877 by Othniel Charles Marsh during the “Bone Wars”, and the name means “different lizard”, a reference to its unusual vertebrae.
A typical adult was about 8.5 metres long, and the largest may have approached 10 metres. It had a large but lightly built skull with a small horn-like crest in front of each eye, dozens of serrated teeth, and powerful arms ending in three big hooked claws. Some researchers think it attacked by opening its jaws very wide and driving its upper teeth down into prey like a hatchet.
In the Jurassic World films, Allosaurus first appears in Fallen Kingdom, escaping the eruption of Mount Sibo on Isla Nublar, and returns in the short film Battle at Big Rock and in Dominion.
