Fact Check: The Two Crests

The frill is film fiction, but the crests are real.

Two thin, parallel crests ran along the top of the Dilophosaurus skull, which is how it got its name. They were too fragile for fighting and were probably for display.

The neck frill and venom spit seen in the films have no fossil evidence at all.
