About the Quetzalcoatlus
Quetzalcoatlus was a pterosaur known from the Late Cretaceous of Texas (Maastrichtian stage, 72.1–66.0 million years ago). It was a member of the Azhdarchidae, a family of advanced toothless pterosaurs with unusually long, stiffened necks. Its name comes from the Mesoamerican feathered serpent god Quetzalcoatl.
The type species is Q. northropi, named by Douglas Lawson in 1975. The genus also includes the smaller species Q. lawsoni, which was known for many years as an unnamed species before being named by Brian Andres and Wann Langston Jr. (posthumously) in 2021.

The name comes from Quetzalcoatl, the Mesoamerican feathered serpent god. The type species, Quetzalcoatlus northropi, was named by Douglas Lawson in 1975.
Quetzalcoatlus stood around 5.4 metres (18 feet) tall, measured roughly 4 metres (13 feet) in body length, and had a wingspan estimated at 10 to 12 metres (33 to 39 feet), at an estimated 250 kilograms (551 lb). It lived in the Late Cretaceous of Texas, 72.1 to 66.0 million years ago.
