“Look at how big this one was?”
“And now imagine a whole herd of those monsters ready to devour you.”

Ellie Sattler

Mapusaurus was a carnivorous dinosaur from the genus of large theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 97 million years ago. Mapusaurus is notable for its large size and is considered one of the largest theropods known from South America.

Mapusaurus was a large dinosaur, with estimates suggesting a length of around 33 to 39 feet (10 to 12 meters) or possibly even larger. It was similar in size to its close relative, Giganotosaurus.

As a theropod, Mapusaurus was a carnivorous predator. It likely preyed on large herbivorous dinosaurs that shared its environment, such as titanosaurs.

One curious fact about the Mapusaurus is the discovery of a large number of individuals (at least seven) found together in what is believed to be a potential social group or a mass death scene. This discovery has led to speculation about the social behaviour of these dinosaurs and whether they may have hunted in groups.

My name is Stoyan, but in the dinosaur community, I’m often known as DinoDaddy. As the creator of JurassicDNA.com, I manage the world’s largest free DNA code database for the Jurassic World™ Play App.

This project began as a personal mission. Inspired by my son’s incredible passion for dinosaurs, I realized how difficult it was for parents and collectors to track down every code. I’ve since dedicated thousands of hours to curating, verifying, and updating this collection to ensure it remains the most complete and trusted resource for Mattel DNA Scan Codes globally.

When I am not documenting new species or updating the database, I’m usually on the floor playing with my son who remains my most demanding 'quality control' expert.
