“So when people come to the park, they wanna learn something, sure, but they also wanna be entertained, and this marine reptile – the Mosasaurus? Just that, a show-stopper. If the T-rex is the ruler of the dinosaurs on land, then the Mosasaurus holds that title below the waves. Make sure this animal is a premium attraction!”

The Mosasaurus was terrorizing the seas during the Mesozoic era (70-66 million years ago) and is believed to be one of the largest carnivorous aquatic lizards to have ever existed.

Mosasaurus means ‘Meuse lizard’, referring to the river near which it was first found. It fed on such prey as seabirds, sharks, large fish, plesiosaurs and even other mosasaurs.

Feeding on its own species would mean that the Mosasaurus were not hunting in packs as they were lone hunters fighting for territory with their own kind.

The Mosasaurus was able to eat very large objects due to a very unusual double-hinged jaw. This basically allowed the Mosasaurus to dislocate its jaw when biting on something very big just like the Python snake.

Their teeth were not great for slicing but they were perfect to grip and rip to shreds its victims.

Despite its size, the Mosasaurus was believed to have been a pretty fast swimmer which makes it much more terrifying and dangerous than the Plesiosaurs.

My name is Stoyan, but in the dinosaur community, I’m often known as DinoDaddy. As the creator of JurassicDNA.com, I manage the world’s largest free DNA code database for the Jurassic World™ Play App.

This project began as a personal mission. Inspired by my son’s incredible passion for dinosaurs, I realized how difficult it was for parents and collectors to track down every code. I’ve since dedicated thousands of hours to curating, verifying, and updating this collection to ensure it remains the most complete and trusted resource for Mattel DNA Scan Codes globally.

When I am not documenting new species or updating the database, I’m usually on the floor playing with my son who remains my most demanding 'quality control' expert.
