Jurassic World Survival Pteranodon
“Don’t let the ‘toothless’ part of its name fool you. It’s basically a 20-foot-wingspan seagull with a spear for a face and a terrible attitude. Do not feed, and definitely don’t let it see your car keys.” — Aviary Keeper, Jurassic World
The Survival theme screams from the first look at this phenomenal Pteranodon toy from the Wild Roar line of toys.
It has definitely gained some weight, and does not look like you can easily win a bare-handed fight with it. The mutated vibrant color scheme is exceptionally well done and looks really good on it. The sculpt is very detailed, and this seems to be a trend in the Survival toy line, which we should all be grateful for. Personally, I was getting tired of the recycled models in the most recent series, where you have to have a wild imagination to find differences with previous releases of certain figures.
The most in-your-face mutated feature the Pteranodon has is the very prominent head crest. Long and toxic yellow in color it has a lot of intricate details and very dark camouflaging markings. The sculpt is packed with fine detail, from the impressive-looking skin texture on the throat to the arms and so much more. A unique characteristic is the use of translucent plastic for the wing membranes and fingers, giving them a distinct look.
Pressing the button on the back activates the signature Wild Roar features, including a jaw snapping motion, several pterosaur screams, and a very cool blinking light-up effect that glows inside the body. The wings also have standard articulation, allowing them to be posed in flapping or soaring positions.
The paint job as mentioned, is very colorful. There is a beautiful fade from dark, to toxic bright yellow, which is also seen on the lower jaw and parts of the crest. The face and crest mix these yellows with brown. My only complaint as always, is that the claws on the feet remain unpainted.
