Jurassic World Survival Brachauchenius

“No, no, you’re thinking of the other ones. See, the long-neck-small-head models are Plesiosaurs. This is a Pliosaur. We… may have overcompensated on the head-to-neck ratio with this one. We call it the Brachauchenius. Just… watch your hands. And your boat.”Jurassic World Marine Biologist

Brachauchenius-large

This Brachauchenius figure is the first marine reptile in the Survival lineup as well as it is a first time in the Mattel’s toy lineup.

The sculpt is fantastically detailed and has a really nice fine skin texture. The “Survival” features are visible as scars and large, rocky barnacle-looking scales along the back, making it a believable addition to the rugged, aquatic theme of the dinosaur. The toy also has very sharp-looking teeth, which at the same time are quite soft and kid-safe.

The figure’s “Wild Roar” gimmick is activated by a button on the back or by pressing the neck of the toy. This triggers a “snapping action” where the neck moves and the jaw bites down. This is accompanied by some new and unique sound effects and a green light-up effect that is quite prominent in the dark.

Last but not least, I would like to note the coloring scheme of the Brachauchenius as the main body is colored in dark blue, accented by a light grayish tone on the flippers.
