“Let me introduce you to Monolophosaurus. This is a no-frills predator straight from the Jurassic. Honestly, I could wax lyrical for days, ’cause it’s hard not to be impressed by such a colorful crest. But don’t be fooled; this is one minacious hunter!” – Isaac Clement
I do not know what is going on but it seems that among the Mattel designers team there are heavy Monolophosaurus fans as there has been a surge of Monolophosauruses in the last couple of lineups.
This Monolophosaurus joins the “Frenzy Pack” line, offering a new iteration on this single-crested theropod. Its bright, two-tone color scheme makes it stand out from previous versions.
The sculpt is almost identical to the one we got from the Rebirth line, as well as the Chaos Theory one, but the texture is a bit more detailed on this one. The “Survival” signature feature appears to be a patch of armored “spikes” or raised scutes on its back, right at the base of the neck. This armor patch is textured and painted to look like a separate, almost reinforced part of its hide.
This figure features an articulated jaw and limbs with which it can be posed in a limited number of naturally looking postures.
The toy features a striking dual-color scheme. The main body and tail are a bright teal (or sea green). This contrasts sharply with the mustard-yellow or tan color used for the entire neck and head. The toy’s signature crest is painted a bright, eye-catching red. A bit letdown are the legs as usual and the fact that the nails are not separately colored.
