Reuben Delgado and Parasaurolophus Story Pack Jurassic World Rebirth Review
Wave 2 of the Rebirth story packs has been slow to arrive in the United States after appearing in the UK first, but the wait is worth it. The Parasaurolophus in this set is the finest Parasaurolophus sculpt Mattel has produced: beautiful blue crest, alternating yellow-and-blue back striping, elegant tail curve, multiple neck articulation ranges, and skin texture detail that are just adorable. Reuben Delgado in his pre-island pink jacket, is a genuinely distinct figure from the D-Rex set version.

About the Toy
1. Sculpt and painting
The head sculpt is one of the best Mattel has achieved at this scale for a hadrosaur. The beak is super detailed, the skin wrinkles and folds in the neck are beautifully sculpted. There are multiple different textures on the figure surface.
The primary brown body reads naturally and makes the blue paint on the crest that starts from the beak a striking accent. Overall, the face reads as one of the more screen-accurate Parasaurolophus interpretations from Mattel, stepping away from the older, less refined versions.
The neck articulation is exceptional in line with the rest of the figures from this line. It goes up and down range as well as full swivel, which means you can position the head angled downward, grazing, and then swivel it to look to the side in a genuinely natural pose.
The skin texture varies meaningfully across the body. The neck carries more wrinkle-based texture on the rear and underside, with scales on the sides.
The arms carry muscle definition and more creasing in the skin. The thigh musculature is clearly defined, and the foot sculpt is clean with scoots down the toes.
The tail has a swivel joint, which is the standard articulation for this size of figure.
2. Action Feature & Articulation
Parasaurolophus articulation follows the standards for the size of the figure. It comes with six different articulations.
- Neck (up/down and full swivel)
- Arms (forward and back)
- Legs (forward and back)
- Tail swivel
Verdict Should I buy it?
If you are into hadrosaur figures, this is a must. The Parasaurolophus alone is worth the purchase as the finest Para Mattel has produced. The pre-island Reuben is a meaningfully different figure from the D-Rex set version, and both accessories are well executed.

3. About the Parasaurolophus
"Okay so this next dinosaur, the Parasaurolophus, has a flair for the dramatic, especially where its head is concerned. It has a distinctive cranial crest, which is used for added resonance in its vocalizations and to regulate body temperature."
— Isaac Clement, Jurassic World Chaos Theory
Parasaurolophus is an extinct genus of hadrosaurid dinosaur from approximately 76.5 to 73 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period. It is one of the most recognisable dinosaurs in popular culture, primarily because of the striking hollow tubular crest on its head. Far from being purely decorative, the crest functioned as a resonating chamber that allowed Parasaurolophus to produce low-frequency calls capable of travelling great distances, useful for herd communication. Some studies suggest the crest may also have played a role in regulating body temperature.
Parasaurolophus was a large herbivore, estimated at around 9.5 metres (31 feet) in length, and walked both bipedally and quadrupedally depending on context. It is classed as a herd animal and was likely highly social. In the Jurassic World franchise, it appears across multiple films and series as one of the more benign background species, and in Rebirth, it has a specific story connection to Reuben Delgado and his family. The Jurassic World interpretation follows the franchise tradition of giving the animal teeth and specific coloration choices not supported by the fossil record.
The face sculpt is the same but the outfit is entirely different. This version wears a pink jacket over a maroon shirt with blue shorts, representing Reuben before being stranded on the island. The D-Rex set version shows him weathered with a torn shirt, representing his on-island appearance. Both sets include a walking stick, referencing his ankle injury from the Spinosaurus encounter.
Reuben Delgado is played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. He is the father of a shipwrecked civilian family who becomes stranded on the island alongside Zora Bennett’s expedition team.
The Parasaurolophus has a brownish primary body color with a vivid blue crest that also moves over the beak and circles around the eyes. The back features alternating yellow and blue striping. The throat and eye surround carry an off-white or light gray tone, the thighs have a tan counter-shading stripe from the rear, and there is a light brown speckling on the arms.
The Rebirth Parasaurolophus is in the Frenzy Pack or Danger Pack size range, similar in scale to the Lost World Legacy Collection version reviewed for comparison. It is significantly smaller than the Wild Roar Parasaurolophus or the Roaravore versions. The sculpt is substantially better than the Legacy Collection version despite the same approximate size.
