Pachyrhinosaurus is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 70 to 67 million years ago.

The first remains of Pachyrhinosaurus were discovered in 1946 and named accordingly due to its exceptionally large nasal cavities. The name “Pachyrhinosaurus” means “thick-nosed lizard” in Greek.

The Pachyrhinosaurus was an herbivorous dinosaur with a large bony frill at the back of its head, which was adorned with various bumps, knobs, and horns. Unlike some other ceratopsids, Pachyrhinosaurus lacked a horn on its nose but had two large horns over its eyes.

Pachyrhinosaurus was a relatively large dinosaur, with adults reaching lengths of up to 6 meters (20 feet) and weighing several tons.

Based on the discovered many fossilized bone beds containing multiple Pachyrhinosauruses it is believed that they might have lived in herds or at least have had social behaviours similar to modern herd animals.
