Therizinosaurus Jurassic World Rebirth Danger Pack Review

Toy Line: Danger Pack

Year: 2025

The Re-Imagined line has been one of Mattel's more inspired ideas in recent years, taking the Jurassic World Dominion designs and presenting them in throwback to the good old days releases. This two-figure Legacy Collection set pairs the two biggest combatants from Dominion's climactic final sequence: a Real Feel Giganotosaurus with wire tail and sound effects, and a newly painted Therizinosaurus. The Giga alone makes this set essential. Everything else is a bonus.

How Does It Compare to the Dominion Version?

If you already own the Dominion version of the Therizinosaurus you should be prepared for this one as the figure is significantly smaller in size. There are no significant changes in the way the Therizinosaurus look, no additional details, just a different color scheme and smaller size. It is not the focus of the set, some may say.

Head-to-Head: Dominion Therisinosaur vs Rebirth Therizinosaurus

Dominion Therizinosaurus

  • Standard articulated figure
  • Articulated jaw
  • Arm strike action feature
  • Wrist articulation
  • Swivel tail + neck
  • Dark Gray and tan + black color scheme
  • Very large and a bit oversized in my humble opinion

Rebirth Therizinosaurus

  • Standard articulated figure
  • Articulated jaw
  • Arm strike action feature
  • Wrist articulation
  • Swivel tail + neck
  • Reddish-brown + black color scheme
  • Smaller than previous versions

About the toy

1. Sculpt

The Jurassic World Re-Imagined Therizinosaurus arrives as part of the Legacy Collection two-pack alongside the Giganotosaurus. Even as a secondary figure in the set, it is a genuinely beautiful release, probably with its own fan base. It brings a fresh paint scheme, smooth articulation, and awesome presence.

The first surprise right out of the box is the size. This Therizinosaurus is smaller than previous Mattel releases, which is not actually bad, as the Dominion Therizinosaurus is very large and difficult to pose and stand out as a sore thumb on the shelf.

The sculpt of the new Therizinosaurus appears to be exactly the same without any new additions or meaningful changes. However, what makes this version distinctive is entirely in the paint job and coloration.

The jaw is manually adjustable, which makes it at least to me easily posable and great for photoshoots.

The neck articulation is also a live saver for any photo enthusiast with two points of articulation, one that swivels fully around and one that moves up and down. The joints are smooth and responsive, allowing for a wide variety of natural-looking head positions.

The arms move together with the press of a button, resulting in both arms striking forward simultaneously. The claws themselves are painted in a glossy, almost black paint, and they look quite menacing and sharp.

Feathering is, of course, present along the top of the neck, the upper arms, and the tail sculpted clearly and fitting naturally into the overall silhouette.

The foot sculpt is clean and detailed, no objections there, as everything looks good and not out of place or proportion.

2. Articulation

The articulation is the best one possible for this type of dinosaur. Here is a list of the moving parts:

  • Excellent neck articulation – smooth, expressive, wide range
  • Wrist articulation
  • Arms strike action feature
  • Tail articulation
  • Legs articulation

Verdict Should I buy it?

Yes. Since it is a playset of two you should buy it primarily for the Giganotosaurus, which is the definitive mainline version of this figure set. The Therizinosaurus is a pleasant addition, well-painted with excellent articulation but a bit smaller-than-expected scale will surprise collectors familiar with earlier versions.

“Just when you think you’ve seen it all, along comes the Therizinosaurus. And believe it or not, those huge claws you see? They actually helped to feed on vegetation. For real! But er… just do me one favor, OK? Don’t let it near my hair with those things!”
