Wild Roar Ceratosuchops

“They are some sort of cousins right. I mean the Spinosaurus and the Ceratosuchops? They look similar and are both terrifying.”

The mighty Ceratosuchops is one of the newest additions to the global dinosaur knowledge database as it was recently discovered in England in 2021.

The Ceratosuchops is a genus of spinosaurid theropod dinosaur that according to the latest research lived during the Early Cretaceous period, about 125 million years ago, in what is now the Isle of Wight, England.

Ceratosuchops was not as as large as its famous relative the Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus. It was more of a medium to large-sized theropod, estimated to be around 8 to 9 meters (26 to 30 feet) in length. Its weight is roughly estimated at around 1 to 2 tons, similar to other mid-sized spinosaurids.

This member of the spinosaurid group also had a long and narrow skull adapted for catching fish, resembling that of a crocodile. The skull had a series of low crests running along the top, which are part of the name “Ceratosuchops,” meaning “horned crocodile-faced.” It had small horn-like crests above its eyes, contributing to its distinctive look among spinosaurids.
