Piatnitzkysaurus

“Hey I know that one. It was my favourite dinosaur in the Dinosaur King arcade when I was a kid.”
— Richard Kiley when he met the Piatnitzkysaurus for the first time.

Piatnitzkysaurus (sometimes spelled Piatnitzky’saurus) is a genus of theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic period, around 150 million years ago. It was first described in 1979 based on fossils discovered in the Cañadón Asfalto Formation in Argentina.

Piatnitzkysaurus was a medium-sized theropod, estimated to have been around 5 to 6 meters (16 to 20 feet) long and weighing around 400 to 500 kilograms (880 to 1,100 pounds). It was bipedal and carnivorous, likely feeding on small to medium-sized prey. Its anatomy suggests that it was a fast runner and had a relatively slender build compared to some of its larger theropod relatives.

Overall, Piatnitzkysaurus is not as well known as some other theropods from the same time period, but it has contributed to our understanding of dinosaur diversity and evolution in the Late Jurassic of South America.

This is the first time the  Piatnitzkysaurus is entering the Jurassic World toy line.
