“Why was the Triceratops such a popular dinosaur? Because it was always tri-horny!“
– Alan Grant
Eotriceratops is another branch of the large ceratopsian or in other words horned dinosaurs that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, somewhere about 68 million years ago, in what is now North America. The Eotriceratops is also known for being one of the largest members of the ceratopsid family part of which is the famous Triceratops and other lesser-known horned dinosaurs.
Eotriceratops was a significantly large dinosaur, estimated to be around 9 meters (30 feet) long and weighing up to 10 tons. This makes it slightly larger than Triceratops and is perfectly caster for the new Gigantic Trackers toy line.
Just like other ceratopsians, the Eotriceratops had a large bony frill at the back of its head and three facial horns and a beaked mouth for cropping the yummy late cretaceous vegetation.
The main difference compared with the Triceratops is that its frill was adorned with large openings (fenestrae) and had a more rectangular shape. The horns above its eyes were long and curved, used for defence and combat with its rivals.
